| Fresno State is committed to improving the health care and social services of the region with the full knowledge that our work here will have a national and international impact.
A recent report by Fresno State’s Central California Health Policy Institute found that California’s heartland faces some of the most adverse health conditions in the state. The health issues of Central California take on national importance as Fresno State partners with medical schools at the University of California, San Francisco and UCLA to model how medical care can be provided among new immigrants, the poor, and Latino and Southeast Asian populations.
Fresno State already produces the majority of the medical and social service professionals in the region. However the nursing school can’t produce graduates quickly enough to meet the need at regional hospitals. The campaign will support expanding our nursing program so that more top students can pursue careers in nursing and other related health care professions.
