Dr. Timothy M. Stearns knows better than most what it takes to run a successful organization. As director of the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Fresno State, he’s helped the center earn a No. 8 national ranking among all American universities for the strength of its programs.
But success doesn’t come from hard work alone.
“The Lyles Center thrives because of the support it receives from corporations, foundations and private donors,” Stearns says. “Building an entrepreneurial mindset in the Central Valley takes more than just dedication. It takes commitment and resources. Entrepreneurs are resourceful by nature – just think what they could do with more resources and support.”
The Lyles Center was established in 2001 thanks to a gift from William M. Lyles, who heads Lyles Diversified Inc., a Fresno construction and real estate company.
The center helps students and community members pursue their entrepreneurial goals through professional consulting services and programs.
“Imagine a region lush with opportunity due to an innovative culture that continues to build jobs and opportunities for our future,” Stearns says. “The Lyles Center provides the space and mentoring for students to do so.”
