Fresno State's Regional Impact
Since its founding in 1911, Fresno State has flourished as an academic institution. More than 200,000 people have graduated from the university's schools and colleges, sharing their knowledge, mastery and insight through distinguished careers and lives in service to their communities.
Impact of Fresno State on the Community
The university also is an important economic engine in the region with a direct financial stimulus exceeding a half-billion dollars, which generates an $800 million total impact.
Over the decades, Fresno State has carved a stellar reputation in many areas including business, health care, agriculture, education and the arts. For example, the university is the biggest educator of teachers in Central California. Our Henry Madden Library is the largest in the 23-campus California State University system. Our agricultural research programs provide solutions to food and water supply challenges around the world.
The Craig School of Business gives students a vital connection to real-world practices, innovative entrepreneurs and global-economy perspectives. The Jan and Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning links Fresno State students and employers to community needs for volunteers, providing hundreds of thousands of hours annually to non-profit organizations.
As the New California advances, Fresno State will look for new opportunities to build roads to our future.
